Medical Secretary, temporary, full time, Durham

Your new company

A temporary opportunity based in Durham. As the Medical Secretary, you will provide support to the medical team and other senior staff as necessary to provide smooth and effective administrative support within a busy and diverse, multidisciplinary team.

There is no direct line management responsibility within this role. The post holder will work within the wider executive support team, providing cross cover as and when required.

Your new role

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • To provide efficient and effective administrative support on a daily basis.
  • To co-ordinate meetings and ensure accurate diary entries and, where necessary, provide administrative support to meetings.
  • Manage correspondence, both paper and electronic on behalf of the team and process accordingly.
  • Use of Microsoft packages on a daily basis.
  • To ensure accurate, specific and timely exchange of information between management, clinicians and other medical staff using clear and concise communication.
  • To deal in a professional, tactful and discreet manner with sensitive and confidential matters, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, clinicians and all other staff in relation to the job role.
  • Plan and organise own time and prioritise own workload around deadlines.


What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have skills and knowledge in the use of Microsoft Packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Have the ability to organise and prioritise own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Have previous administrative experience in a busy environment with competing demands.
  • Have experience of maintaining diaries and organising meetings.
  • Be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary and diverse team, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of information at all times.
