Hays Social Care have an opportunity to join Ards & North Down Borough Council Community Summer Schemes.

Your new company

Hays Social Care are working with Ards and North Down Borough Council to recruit for their community summer schemes. The summer scheme is offered to primary age children to develop soft skills through exploration, trying new things and the development of memory and creativity through play.

Your new role

As a Summer Scheme leader in charge, in conjunction with the Summer Scheme Coordinator, you will support a team of staff and volunteers. Your role will be to provide summer scheme sessions in accordance with the planned programme and give input to ensure good practice at the summer scheme debriefs.
You will comply with and promote equality, safeguarding and health and safety in accordance with Council policies and legal requirements, as well as assisting in good record keeping and following correct procedures as and when incidents and accidents occur. You will assist in the evaluation of each session at the end of the day and overall evaluation of the programme.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this position, you will be a motivational, committed and strong leader who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children. You will be educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent in relevant area of work – youth work, social care, childcare, etc) and have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of working with children in pre-school, young people, special needs, children and parents or arts and crafts.
You will have knowledge of child protection / vulnerable adult issues, be a team player and have a sensitivity to the differing requirements of individuals and groups. Awareness of Health and Safety and holding a recognised first aid qualification is an advantage.
