Board level Head of Legal, reporting to CEO UK&I

Hays Legal is exclusively retained by this organisation seeking to appoint a Head of Legal (UK & Ireland). This is a Board appointment which would suit an experienced lawyer (10 years+) with an in-house or private practice background, to be the legal expert and trusted advisor to this organisation.

Reporting to the CEO UK&I, you will be the first point of contact for all legal matters, finding commercial solutions and having a results-orientated approach. You will head a small legal team.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic legal advice and counsel to the UK & Ireland leadership team on a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, commercial transactions, employment law, data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leading and managing the UK & Ireland legal team, including setting priorities, delegating tasks, and ensuring professional development.
  • Managing external legal relationships with law firms and other advisors, ensuring cost-effective and efficient legal representation.
  • Proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks for the UK & Ireland business.
  • Staying up-to-date on relevant UK & Ireland laws and regulations, ensuring the organisation remains compliant.
  • Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures for the UK & Ireland region.
  • Engaging with the Group legal function.
  • Contributing to the development and execution of overall business strategy from a legal perspective.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lawyer seeking a first Head of Legal role or an existing Head of Legal seeking a Board role.

You will have significant general legal experience, having advised on a range of commercial contracts. You will be able to evidence a strong track record of your ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and partnerships both internally and externally.

This is a fabulous opportunity for a seasoned commercial lawyer seeking a wide-ranging and stimulating role within a fast-moving and collegiate environment. Those seeking a 4 or 5 day working week will be equally of interest. Hybrid working.

On offer is a competitive remuneration package offering bonus, car allowance and additional attractive benefits. Only those with UK experience will be considered.

To learn more about this Head of Legal role, please send your CV to Adele Callaghan (specifying full details of your current remuneration package) or email for a return call to discuss the role. This role is being exclusively handled by Hays Legal and all direct or third-party applications will be forwarded to Hays for consideration.
