Senior Java Software Engineer within a Defence Consultancy


We are looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer on a permanent basis to join a renowned Aerospace & Defence consultancy who are currently going through some exciting growth.

Product fatigue? Constantly working on legacy code or migration projects? Looking for a change in sector? This may be the role for you!


You will be joining a fast-paced, agile workforce working on some of the most challenging and rewarding engineering projects, getting involved across the SDLC, developing & delivering a number of bespoke solutions for several clients across a range of verticals and have the opportunity to work on projects that you feel proud of, whilst making a difference to the world we live in.


You'll also have the opportunity to develop further as a Software Engineer through an array of training and development courses, both in-house and external, designed to help you grow your talent further and work on a variety of tech stacks.

The right candidate will need:


Previous experience of web or application development in:

  • Senior level experience in Java.

  • Experience with range of Java frameworks, such as Spring Boot & Hibernate.

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

  • Database development (SQL Server or PostgreSQL preferred).

  • Development of web applications with modern web frameworks e.g., React, Angular, Vue etc.

  • Designing, implementing or using Rest APIs

Experience of the following would be beneficial:

  • C#.

  • .Net (standard or Core).


Previous experience of taking a senior role within a development team, for example:

  • You take responsibility for outcomes/delivery as a technical lead.

  • You are a technical expert, the go-to person to solve the most difficult technical challenges.

  • You lead the design and architecture of solutions.

  • You coach your team, sometimes filling a SCRUM Master role and you support and mentor junior team members.



This role will be based out of either the Cheltenham or Manchester hub, offering flexible working where applicable but this may vary depending on the end client.


This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. This will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
