About us
We are Honeycomb Group – a collection of socially minded brands who champion happy homes. For us, a happy home is much more than just bricks and mortar. It’s about the individuals and families living inside. Whilst we provide housing to fit the needs of local people, including affordable rent and shared ownership, we also deliver support services and accommodation through our domestic abuse, homelessness, and home support specialist brands. We know the needs of our community, and for over 40 years we’ve dedicated ourselves to investing in a more vibrant future for them.

Whether it’s providing a home for affordable rent, helping a rough sleeper off the streets, supporting someone to flee an abusive relationship or making sure an elderly person is safe and well at home, we’re there, and we’re creating a positive impact.

With our new five-year corporate plan, we are embarking on an exciting new journey – and you can be part of it. By 2029, Honeycomb Group will be a leading provider of services that enable a happy home, meeting or exceeding the quality of top-performing UK providers. We’ll do this in a way that will help more people than ever experience the benefits of a home that provides a springboard for life. To support this ambitious plan, we are now seeking a Chair (to replace our retiring Chair) and two new Board members.

About the role

There really couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us at Honeycomb Group. We’re looking for a people person who shares our strategic vision for happy homes in North Staffordshire, Derbyshire, East Cheshire and beyond. We need someone that recognises they can help people to feel safe, connected, and confident, as a Chair of our Board.

In this role, you won’t just be Chair of our Board. Yes, you’ll influence the business at a strategic level, providing leadership and direction to the Board, but you’ll also support our Executive team to shape policies and projects that benefit our community and wider region. Ultimately, you’ll use your expertise and unique skill set to literally change lives across North Staffordshire and beyond. Your influence, passion and direction will enable our dedicated frontline teams to make a real, tangible difference every day.

About you

We are looking for the right candidate to help lead the Board and complement the existing non-exec team by bringing a specific set of skills to the table. In particular, we are looking for someone with existing Chair experience in some form – either full Board or Committee, for example, and with a passion for, and experience in:
  • customer engagement
  • direct customer experience
  • asset management
  • social and affordable housing development
  • building a positive relationship with Homes England
  • commercial activity
  • investment management

And, most importantly:

As part of our five-year journey, we’re working hard to return to top financial performance and strong governance. We’re looking for individuals who can join us on this mission, who understand the challenges and opportunities across the sector and can provide strong strategic direction to inform our decisions and help us achieve our goals.

Please refer to the candidate information and follow the how to apply instructions.
