Research Scientist | Mass Spectrometry | Protein & Biophysics | Interim

Your new company

A global biopharmaceutical leader is looking for an experienced scientist to join their Mass Spectrometry team within their Protein Structure and Biophysics Group. This will be a 12-month contract joining their site in Slough. This company commits their work to improving the lives of people living with severe neurological and immunological conditions with a strong focus on research and teamwork.


Your new role

You will be providing project support from initial adoption into the portfolio through to candidate selection of NCE and NBE therapeutics that are generated from our discovery platforms. Therapeutic molecule interactions are driven by this department, so the successful candidate will need to have a proven track record of designing and executing HDX-MS experiments with an understanding of their result alongside other data. You will be managing multiple projects at a time, so you will need to be able to prioritise and meet demands whilst working within a multidisciplinary department.

What you'll need to succeed

  • PhD or B.Sc. with 5+ years industry experience in HDX-MS experiments for ligand, antibody, or antibody interactions
  • Knowledge & experience of using Waters HDX-MS System, DynamX™, Waters Data Processing Software Packages (PLGS) and Thermo Scientific Orbitrap MS Systems
  • Practical experience with HDX-MS experiments using NBE and NCE molecules
  • Ability to use structural visualisation tools such as Chimera, PyMOL or anything similar
  • Desirable to have experience in HDX-MS analysis of membrane proteins
  • Publications related to mass spectrometry in peer-reviewed journals
