Your new company

Hays are recruiting for Teaching Assistants to provide long-term, full-time support within an SEMH school based in Newcastle under Lyme. The school has approximately 120 students aged between 11-19 and 90 staff. They take a holistic and nurturing approach to education and offer facilities such as sensory rooms and a pool for hydrotherapy.

Your new role

• You will be providing support to children who have a background of trauma which has altered the way they process information.
• You will work closely with the teaching staff to provide targeted support and guidance for students.
• 1:1 or group work with students who require additional support
• Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
• Leading group work
• Helping the class teacher with pupil observations

What you'll need to succeed

• previous experience working with students in a SEMH environment is desirable but not essential.
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with both students and colleagues.
• patience and empathy when dealing with students facing challenging circumstances.
• You’ll need to be available for a full time role 5 days per week and available to book long term (minimum of 1 half term)

Working with Hays, you will receive a daily pay rate between £80 - £90 depending on school booking. You will have also have a dedicated consultant to provide ongoing support from the point of registering and throughout your time working with us.
