Senior Technical Housing Surveyor, South Wales, up to £30 per hour

Your new role
As a Senior Technical Housing Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and longevity of our housing stock. Your responsibilities will include leading a number of surveyors to deliver planned maintenance, asset surveying, overseeing RAC concrete and roofing projects. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.

What you'll need to succeed
Education and Qualifications:
  • A degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related field, is essential. This provides the foundational knowledge required for the role.
Professional Experience:
  • Proven experience as a housing surveyor is crucial. Ideally, this experience should be within housing.
  • Familiarity with planned maintenance, asset surveying, and roofing projects (especially RAC concrete roofing) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
  • Building Defects Knowledge: You should have a solid understanding of common building defects, structural issues, and maintenance practices. Surveying Tools:
    Proficiency in using surveying tools and software is essential for accurate assessments and reporting.
  • Project Management:
    Strong project management skills are necessary to oversee maintenance programs and roofing projects effectively.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
  • Excellent communication skills are vital. You’ll interact with residents, colleagues, contractors, and external partners.
  • Stakeholder management involves building positive relationships with various parties involved in housing maintenance.
Attention to Detail:
  • As a surveyor, you’ll need to pay close attention to details during inspections, assessments, and reporting.
  • Identifying defects and risks accurately ensures effective decision-making.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
  • Housing maintenance often involves solving complex problems. Being resourceful and finding practical solutions is essential.
Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Familiarise yourself with relevant industry standards and safety regulations. Compliance is critical in housing management.
Teamwork and collaboration:
  • Work closely with colleagues, contractors, and other stakeholders. A collaborative approach ensures successful outcomes.
