Clinical Team Leader (Ambulance Operations) Job in Southampton with salary of £47,000 to £52,000 + unsocial

Your New Role

The Clinical Team Leader job will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering excellent clinical care to patients. You will provide operational management and clinical leadership to the ECS Ambulance Operations team.

As part of the job, you will hold responsibility for first line people management and for ensuring standards of operational and clinical practice are maintained. You will undertake clinical duties on a rota basis as an operational paramedic across the breadth of ECS operational activity and will provide clinical supervision in an operational environment, supporting the development of the Ambulance Operations clinical workforce.

You will contribute to, and support the delivery of, aspects of the ECS Clinical Strategy. You will actively participate in ECS board assurance activity, including quality assurance and audit cycles.

The role will be based at the ECS Southampton HQ, however travel may be required to support effective delivery of the role. As part of this role, you will have a dedicated study budget of £1000 per annum to spend on courses relevant to your development, along with a range of funded and/or supported development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge as you lead your team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Act as a role model and be an exemplar for ECS, promoting the vision, values, and goals of the organisation.
  • In partnership with the Ambulance Operations Manager, provide strong operational leadership across the ambulance operations and operations support teams.
  • Be responsible for line management of Paramedics and Emergency Care Assistants within the
  • Ambulance Operations Team, such as but not limited to, work allocation, performance reviews, sickness reviews,appraisals and supporting clinical development.
  • Ensure effective communications with the ambulance operations and operations support team, utilising a variety of media.
  • Support effective delivery of ambulance operations including but not exclusively, fleet, logistics, equipment, medicines, scheduling.
  • Assist in inducting new team members including direct supervision, on-boarding support and sign off process.
  • Undertake and support investigations as required, reporting to the Patient Safety Panel or escalating as required.
  • Promote a supportive, fair, and open culture that encourages and enables all parts of the workforce to meet required performance standards.
  • Promote a positive organisational image.

Clinical Practice

  • Undertake clinical shifts as an operational paramedic, operating with a paramedic scope of practice.
  • Follow ECS and other agreed guidance in the course of your clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate good medicines management practices, including working under Patient Group
  • Directives.
  • Document the provision of clinical care to a high standard and maintain expected standards information governance.
  • Maintain own clinical knowledge and standards of practice through ongoing CPD and review.

To be eligible for this role, you must have

  • HCPC registration as a Paramedic
  • A minimum of 5 years post-registration experience as a Paramedic
  • A valid UK driving licence with C1 category.
  • A recognised leadership or management qualification or willingness to undertake one.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team of clinical staff
  • Experience of delivering and facilitating clinical education and training
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence
  • Ability to travel to different locations as required.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including unsocial hours and weekends.
