Senior Network Engineer - Day Rate Contract - Glasgow - 3-Month Contract

Your new company
A forward-thinking public sector organisation based in Glasgow that provides the UK with a vital service. They have been going through a sustained period of technology transformation and have adopted an Agile approach to delivery. They are seeking the support of an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support them on a number of vital projects.

Your new role
As a Senior Network Engineer you will provide vital Information Technology network services for a fast-paced organisation in Glasgow. You will be responsible for day-to-day network infrastructure support and strategic and tactical enhancements. These include migrating core services to the cloud (Azure) and upgrading on-premises network technology. You will work alongside a number of senior internal stakeholders up to C level and have the support of third party vendors to help achieve the ambitious plans of the organisation.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 and layer 3 switched and routed networks, preferably using Cisco hardware, preferably educated to CCNA and CCNP knowledge level (Routing and Switching)
  • Experience working in Cloud environments, specifically Azure, e.g. Transit Gateway, Azure Firewall
  • Knowledge of Network Security, including on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments.
  • Implementation and configuration of SD-WAN networks, network monitoring, and network optimisation, ideally Fortinet and Palo Alto
  • Routing protocols, in particular OSPF, EIGRP and BGP
  • Configuration and management of remote access technologies
  • WAN technologies, ideally MPLS and IPSEC VPN
  • Fortinet, Install and configure Fortinet products e.g., FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager.
  • Upgrade of existing FortiGate firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco Switches, Routers dealing with maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting and support.
What you'll get in return
This is a three-month Inisde IR35 contract that does have a good chance of further extension. A very competitive day rate is on offer. The organisation offers hybrid working, but you must be able to attend the Glasgow office once per week. This is a fast-paced, agile environment that has a focus on delivery.
