Business Intelligence Analyst | Remote | £40,000 - £41,000

About the role

We’re seeking a passionate BI Analyst who can transform raw data into meaningful information, then convert that information into insightful conclusions that will drive strategic objectives and bolster business operations.
As a member of the Data Development Team within the IT Department, the BI Analyst will be responsible for managing, analysing, and reporting on data that supports business operations, decision-making processes, and the delivery of statutory returns.
The role involves creating and modifying reports and dashboards using a diverse set of tools necessary for the job. This position is integral to ensuring data-driven decision-making within the organisation.

Core duties

  • Interpret data sets and provide conclusions to aid business strategies.
  • Design data reports and dashboards using BI tools like Power BI.
  • Write SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs.
  • Advise on data presentation based on needs and best practices.
  • Explain technical and non-technical system requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT for data availability and integrity.
  • Assist in the company’s Data Strategy.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Document processes and report specifications.

Person Specification

Qualifications:
Possessing an A-level education (or its equivalent) in mathematics/statistics, or having demonstrated a similar level of complexity in professional settings.

Experience:
Demonstratable experience of -
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) in creating reports
  • Working with and querying databases with T-SQL
  • Excel using advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts
  • Power BI to create dashboards
  • Working as a BI Analyst, dealing with large datasets

Skills:
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel
  • Intermediate SQL Server 2012 onwards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Adept at report writing, presenting findings, and gathering / validating user requirements
  • An understanding of business processes with an ability to align BI solutions with business objectives

Knowledge and Understanding:
  • An understanding of GDPR
  • Ability to learn a business's operations and their needs.
