Hays Education are currently working with a large Primary School in Widnes to recruit an experienced caretaker for a long-term role starting ASAP. The role is initially temporary but could become permanent.

The role is for 37 hours a week working morning and afternoons, 7.30am - 10.30am and 1.30-m - 6.00pm.

• Opening and closing the school premises, ensuring security and fire safety
• Carrying out routine inspections and repairs of the buildings, grounds and equipment
• Liaising with contractors and suppliers for external maintenance and improvement works
• Managing the school’s energy consumption and waste disposal
• Supervising the cleaning staff and ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
• Assisting with the setup and breakdown of school events and activities
• Reporting any issues or concerns to the Headteacher or the School Business Manager

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A relevant qualification or experience in caretaking, maintenance or facilities management
• A good knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures
• A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving and repairs
• A friendly and professional attitude and excellent communication skills

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS and satisfactory references.
