Support all design activity within the Electrical Design Department

JOB OVERVIEW

The Electrical Design Engineer's position will support all design activity within the Electrical Design Department. This position also covers a range of client measurables and deliverables. The role will engage directly with internal and external stakeholders, through regular meetings. This position hybrid with our Design Team based in our Olney Head Office. There may occasionally require a site visit to projects locations around the UK as and where necessary.

Main Duties

Creating clear, high-quality drawings and designs using AutoCAD 2D/3D to industry standards.
Assisting in technical problems and issues to support the delivery of projects.
Preparing technical reports for both internal and external purposes.
Provide technical administrative support including project advice and design assessments.
Produce preliminary and detailed primary electrical engineering designs from 11kv to 132kv in compliance with Industry standards, within time and within budget.
Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, to include DNO's/IDNO's and customers.
Assisting Project Managers and site teams in understanding the design.
Creating and maintaining design Risk Assessments.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Essential:
Produce preliminary and detailed primary electrical engineering designs from 11kv to 132kv in compliance with Industry standards, within time and within budget.
Familiarity with electrical cable and plant specifications up to 132kV.
Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, to include DNO's/IDNO's and customers.
Creating Design Risk Assessments.
Experience with ICP's, IDNO's and DNO's is essential.
Ability to use Autodesk products and prepare your own drawings.
Strong IT and Microsoft skills.

Knowledge of ENA/BS/IEC/G81 standards.
Desirable:
Knowledge of substation design would be advantageous.
Some knowledge of Revit software.
Experienced in the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment and know how to apply them.
Have Chartered or Incorporated status held with an appropriate professional body.
Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate subject.
Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud
Ability to perform appropriate studies e.g.: cable calculations and voltage drop etc.
