Payroll Administrator, Leicestershire, Up to £25k per annum


Our client is looking for a payroll administrator who has worked for a payroll bureau or an accountancy practice and has the advantage of having experience handling multiple payrolls for different clients, using various payroll systems, and dealing with complex payroll issues.

You will be joining a small team and be responsible for processing payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with tax and legal requirements are met, and maintaining accurate records of wages and deductions.


Your responsibilities


To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience of working for a payroll bureau or an accountancy practice and be proficient in using varied payroll systems.

Your duties will include:


  • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll for a portfolio of clients, including calculating salaries, deductions, benefits, and tax.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax and legal requirements is met, such as PAYE, NIC, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of wages and deductions such as SSP, SMP, and update payroll data.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports, such as P45, P60 etc.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  • Liaise with clients and employees to answer queries and provide information on payroll matters.
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Assist with preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and liaising with clients and employees.
  • Processing new starters, leavers, and HMRC submissions.
  • Reconciliation and admin of auto enrolment pension schemes.


What you'll need to succeed

  • ESSENTIAL: to have previous experience of working for a Payroll Bureau, or an Accountancy Practice.
  • Proficient in using varied payroll software systems, & MS Office.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving & numerical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices.
