Contract: Permanent
Hours: Shifts of either 7:15am-4:15 pm or 9am-6pm

Hays has proudly partnered with a nursery in Wimbledon to recruit a Nursery Practitioner to join their team. The nursery focusses on providing the best start in life for their pupils and has created an ethos that focusses on quality education as well as developing the child as a whole. They strive to create an environment where the children can thrive, providing high-quality education for all ages. The nursery received a rating of “good” in their most recent Ofsted inspection, with inspectors stating that “children develop positive attitudes to learning and the skilled staff have high expectations of them.”
Your new role as a Nursery Practitioner
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high quality care, safeguarding and wellbeing of young children whilst ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented at all times. You will also ensure all the children's needs are met and have a proactive approach to planning and implementing activities for the children. Some of your other duties will include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met.
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
- Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
- Updating the children’s learning journal on a daily basis with any relevant information.
- Working within the framework of nursery's policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the preschool and parents.
What you will need to succeed in this Nursery Practitioner job
- A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare
- Experience of working with a key group
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Experience of the EYFS and using it within a nursery setting
- Enthusiastic, passionate, and full of ideas to encourage learning and development
- Ability to speak Mandarin is desirable but not essential
- Hold the right to work in the UK
