Take a leading role in the successful design, development, and implementation of Networks at UoW

Information Systems and Support at University of Westminster delivers a comprehensive portfolio of ICT services to the University’s user community of 20,000 students and staff across our London campuses.

Our team is growing as we further develop our digital environment and as part of this we are looking to expand and develop the ISS Team, with more than £40 million investment planned over the next 5 years. Join us and become part of a dynamic, growing and innovative team.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be a key member of the Infrastructure, Data & Telecoms team, taking a leading role in the successful design, development, and implementation of Network and Telecommunication systems, and support the effective and efficient delivery of day-to-day operational services, delivered against an ITIL quality management framework.

There are several exciting upcoming projects to get involved in including: entire network re-architecture implementation, Core switch replacement, Distribution & Edge switch upgrades, NAC deployment & ClearPass upgrade, wireless replacement, and new building/large space network installations.

Experience
  • A strong technical background across wireless, voice and data networks including configuration, support and network problem resolution
  • Strong knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS and an understanding of network security principles
  • Strong experience of supporting and managing routers, switches, firewalls, Data Centre Management, Cloud Solutions, Virtualisation & Infrastructure & Storage & Backup
  • Strong communication skills with experience providing technical leadership and managing multiple priorities.
  • Network certifications e.g. Cisco CCNP, Brocade BCNP, HP Master ASE or similar
  • Experience working in an ITIL based environment
