Your new company

I have recently partnered with a leading London Law firm to recruit a Business Development Manager for their London office. They offer a full-service multidisciplinary business protecting peoples’ privacy, reputation, and security. They anticipate the latest threats and opportunities facing their clients and pride themselves on the quality of strategic advice they provide.

Your new role

An integral member of the Clients and Markets team, you will be responsible for supporting partner business development activity, focussing on the private client, corporate, and entertainment sectors. This will include targeting our strategic international referrers such as external lawyers, in jurisdictions from Jersey to Nairobi, and LA to Dubai.

You will work closely with partners to develop their business development strategies and tactical plans to win new clients and help develop existing relationships. You will also provide support where necessary to Directors to help build their profile.

You will look for new opportunities to cross-sell across other core disciplines and lead on the execution of the tactical plans. You will be responsible for market analysis, sales support, and project management of Partner BD plans, providing regular KPI information relating to the performance of these plans.

A team player, you will regularly collaborate with the Head of Global Business Development, the Head of Global Client Development, other BD Managers, and your colleagues across Marketing and Communications.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 7+ years of experience working in a professional services business development team targeting successful individuals and their businesses is essential – you need to be able to hit the ground running.
  • Experienced in pipeline management; winning new clients; drafting proposal documents; project managing BD activity; and managing and growing existing clients.
  • Comfortable when faced with ambiguity within a matrix structure.
  • Comfortable working directly with multiple partners from across the business, able to plot a route forward to manage their requirements and deliver.
  • Highly collaborative and builds strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • A self-starter with enthusiasm and drive who contributes ideas, works collaboratively and has a hunger for winning new business.
  • A team player with active listening skills, excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with a CRM system and confidence with the MS Office suite.
As a firm operating at the sharp end of crises, you should be comfortable operating in a high-performance culture and thrive when working under pressure at tight deadlines.
