Science/Lab Technician
The Agency
Hays is one of the market-leading agencies in the Education sector in Cheltenham and is currently actively recruiting for a Science/Lab Technician to support science teachers during classes at a secondary school in Cheltenham.
What you will be doing/ your responsibilities:
- Supporting science teachers and students during classes by providing equipment and resources for demonstration, class practical work, assessments and examinations
- Keeping and setting-up equipment in a clean and serviceable condition (including disposing waste, working with chemicals, insects, animals and paperwork)
- Assessing for risk and advising relevant staff
- Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labelled
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
What you’ll need to succeed, skills and competencies:
- Following rules and instructions
- Supporting teachers and pupils with empathy and inquisitive nature
- Excellent organisation skills
- Ability to assess, identify and report relevant risk
- Detail-oriented nature to ensure cleanliness and orderliness
Essential:
Previous experience as a Science/Lab Technician or equivalent (within the past 5 years)
