Internal Coms/Change Communications Lead job-12 Months FTC -London-£40,000-£45,000 PA + Benefits

The Role -This role will work with the communications team, to develop and implement strategies to build the reputation of the University to achieve a positive influence over its stakeholders and internal and external community members. The role works across the University to develop, amongst other things, regular cadence of internal communications, media relations, events, publications, and an online presence to enable information exchange between internal stakeholders and the programme.

Main Duties
  • Develop and deliver internal staff communications across the university.
  • Lead on the writing and editing of e-newsletters, including the weekly staff newsletter.
  • Support with sending and contributing to all staff messages from the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and uploading content to the SLT blog.
  • Design and update content for screensavers, digital screens, and on-site posters, including staff engagement campaigns.
  • Support the management of the staff intranet, working with staff across the University to help them create new pages, along with the Web Content Team.
  • Source, write and upload news stories and upload them to the staff intranet using the Content Management System.
  • Support the management and update communications with external stakeholders, the media and the press.
  • Work with the Senior Communications Officer and colleagues in the Change Support Unit to communicate the university’s vision and strategy and related projects, as they relate to the People and Finance programme.
  • Assist with the external stakeholder joint communications.
  • Manage timely and consistent communications across a range of channels to staff working remotely to ensure they have the information they need to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Engage with the Communications and Events team as well as the whole Marketing and External Relations department to the rest of the University.
  • Co-operate on certain, non-regular, projects with colleagues in the Communications and Events team.
    Support colleagues in the delivery of all People and Finance systems related communications.
  • Establish and maintain links with external parties.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below-
  • Good knowledge of internal communications tools including intranets, mailing software, blogs and social media.
  • Experience writing and copyediting content, sourcing stories and interviewing.
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

  • Planning and producing internal communications content for a large organisation
  • Experience writing and copyediting content, sourcing stories and interviewing
  • Experience of managing communications in a complex business transformation initiative
  • Experience of managing press / external communications

  • External Supplier management and engagement
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
  • Excellent IT skills, including internal mailing and content management systems
  • Excellent organisational skills, the ability to plan and manage workloads and use initiative to meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to understand and summarise complex information and relay this in an accessible way, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills: the job involves contact with people across all levels of the university and in the community.
