Disaster Recovery Consultant

A leading Independent IT Infrastructure and Services Consultancy is looking for a Disaster Recovery Consultant, for a 3-month contract initially, based in Hatfield (Hybrid), Outside IR35

As a Disaster Recovery Consultant, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive gap analyses, devising, and implementing strategies to improve disaster recovery processes, and managing disaster recovery (DR) implementations for projects.
Your role will be critical in ensuring the resilience and continuity of business operations in the face of unforeseen disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:
Gap Analysis- Conduct thorough assessments of existing disaster recovery plans, policies, and procedures.
Identify gaps, vulnerabilities, and areas for improvement in clients' disaster recovery capabilities.
Analyse business impact assessments to determine critical systems, applications, and data.
Process Improvement - Develop and recommend strategies to enhance disaster recovery processes, including backup and recovery procedures, business continuity plans, and incident response protocols.
Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline workflows, mitigate risks, and optimise resource utilisation.
Implement best practices and industry standards to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of disaster recovery initiatives.
DR Testing Management- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of disaster recovery tests.
Oversee the management of resources necessary for successful DR operations.
Conduct tests, drills, and simulations to validate the viability and readiness of disaster recovery plans.
Documentation and Reporting- Document findings, recommendations, and action plans resulting from gap analyses and process improvements.
Prepare comprehensive reports highlighting key insights, progress, and outcomes.
Maintain accurate records of disaster recovery activities, test results, and incident responses for auditing and compliance purposes.

Skills and Qualifications:
In-depth understanding of disaster recovery principles, methodologies, and technologies.
Proven experience in disaster recovery planning, implementation, and management, preferably in a consulting or advisory capacity.
Proficiency in utilising disaster recovery tools and software, such as backup solutions, replication technologies, and cloud services.
Strong knowledge of networking, infrastructure architecture, and data center operations.

Analytical Skills:
The ability to assess complex systems and environments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Capacity to analyse business requirements and translate them into actionable disaster recovery plans.

Project Management:
Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within established timelines and budgets.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

Communication and Collaboration:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients, team members, and external partners.
Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions, and tabletop exercises.

Certifications:
Relevant certifications in disaster recovery and business continuity, such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent.
Additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) and IT governance (e.g., ITIL) are advantageous.
