Your new role

You will be working within an established Pastoral team, led by a supportive and experienced manager. Each member of the Pastoral team has responsibility for their own year group - meaning you're able to build a good rapport with the pupils in your year, under your care.

You will be supporting the school in managing the needs of students who require particular support to overcome behavioural, emotional or social barriers. You will need good communication skills in order to understand individuals' personal issues and help them on a 1:1 basis to help resolve them. You will also be involved in monitoring behaviour, and holding pupils responsible for poor behaviour by following school policies.
This will not be classroom based.

This is a long-term temporary position to start ASAP, until the end of the academic year with the possibility for it to extend into the new academic year.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will need to have recent experience of working with children within the last 2 years which we can reference
  • You will need to be a creative and positive pastoral mentor who is able to embrace new surroundings and situations, whilst demonstrating a professional manor at all times
  • You will have strong classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt to unfamiliar plans
  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to complete a new check

What you'll get in return

In return, you will be paid to scale from day one of the assignment and will also be working in a successful department, therefore learning from others and developing your own skills and experience. You will have a dedicated Hays Consultant who will support you, and you will also join our Hays Refer a Friend Scheme where you could be entitled to receiving £350 in high street vouchers.
