This is a business-critical role with full exposure to the executive leadership team and senior management teams across the University, so the ability to develop and influence key stakeholders is vital. You’ll be a true HR generalist with the ability to operate in a strategic function. You’ll also be resilient, with strong expertise to support change management processes, complex employee relations casework and trade union relationships. You will work as the “trusted advisor” to the Vice Chancellor’s Executive and the wider University Senior Management Team on people management issues, as well as deputising for the Director of HR & OD as necessary.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing the HR Partnering team in ensuring that people management policies and procedures are fit for purpose and promote best practice. You will work collaboratively with our recognised trade unions and senior stakeholders to effectively manage disputes, applying your professional expertise on employment relations issues, handling matters within the organisational policy framework and best practice.

You will work closely with the HR Operations Manager to effectively manage all areas of the employee lifecycle, managing the recruitment and selection, candidate management, onboarding and administrative support delivered to improve business operations.

You will have experience working with a complex and unionised Higher Education institution and be a qualified CIPD Chartered Member (Level 7) in HR or be able to demonstrate an equivalent body of experience or qualification. You will be asked to demonstrate how you could work at this level, including providing accurate and robust advice to senior managers.

The closing date for this position is Monday 13th May 2024

First stage online interviews will take place on 23rd May and 2nd stage face to face interviews will be held w/c 27th May.
