Engineering Project Manager - 12 Month Contract - Macclesfield (on-site role) - Outside IR35 Role

Your New Company

Working within the AstraZeneca UK Operations - Facilities Management Function, this position provides professional Engineering Subject Matter Expertise to support to the AstraZeneca UK Operations Campus – Macclesfield.
As a member of the FM Hard Services Governance Team, the position proactively contributes to the provision, continuous improvement, and delivery of a World Class service to the site, all ensuring statutory, regulatory and GMP Compliance requirements are met, to ensure stable and reliable UK operations.

Take ownership of, and be responsible for, all actions undertaken as part of the role, to ensure commitments to the organisation and colleagues are always met.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence is integrated into the team’s responsibilities. This should include adopting a philosophy of continuous improvement and a “Right First Time From Me” attitude to all operations.
  • To establish collaborative ways of working to build and manage strong internal customer & supplier relationships to ensure all AstraZeneca’s goals and objectives are met.
  • Ensure safe, compliant and effective completion of assigned projects.

Your New Role
The support the safe, effective and compliant delivery of the Project Management responsibilities for Facilities Management Hard Service Governance Team at the Macclesfield campus.

Supporting the timely and accurate completion of Project feasibility studies and delivery of Capital Investment projects across all functions of the UK1 campus.

Co-ordination of Project Engineering activities to ensure safe delivery of works in compliance with Financial, Regulatory and AstraZeneca Quality System requirements, ensuring the use of best practice and completion to the highest standard.

Provide facilitation and engineering / change management expertise for assigned project – included but not limited to the change management activities, Functions projects across the span of hard services and utilities aligned to the Function and campus priorities and Site Master Plan.

Working in close collaboration with FM Central Project Services

(CPS) Team to ensure the delivery of Change Management and CAPEX projects are delivered in line with campus process and best practice.

Working in close collaboration with the FM Hard Service Governance Team members, CPS and the wider Facilities Management Team, Safety, Quality and external service delivery partners are completed safely and inline the GEP.

Working in collaboration with Finance for the raising of Capital Expenditure Request and effective management of the fixed asset register in support of financial auditing.

Effective project progress, budget control and reporting to the team members, leadership / project sponsors.

Supervision of externally provided support / Engineering resources, including the planning, co-ordination and hosting of visiting Engineers/ stakeholders – providing Project Management oversight of all change activities subject to CDM regulations.


Essential Skills.
  • Strong project management experience within a GMP / Regulated industry is essential with good GMP experience in a regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Strong project management of change programme across facilities / engineering service disciplines
  • The job holder shall be of a Subject Matter expert with their field of specialism.
  • The job holder must have people management experience of controlling visiting contractors, safe working methods and practices, the use of Permit to Work systems, including the reviewing of safe working methods and associated risk assessments.
  • Must be familiar with the operation and engineering aspects of plant and equipment for Pharma and / or Biotech facility, knowledge of GXP systems and practices, facility services and validation.

  • The role holder will have considerable technical knowledge and high level of expertise of the job, strong mechanical, electrical and/or process aptitude and a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and process systems, with strong project management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent organisation skills and capable of co-ordinating multiple tasks with timely results to support the business.

  • A practical working knowledge of the review and approval of Engineering Method Statements and Risk Assessment, to help to ensure the safe and effective delivery of engineering project activities.
  • In depth working knowledge and experience of CDM regulations.
