Hays Construction have been retained in the recruitment of a Estimator for a utilities contractor based in County Antrim. This company has been established for over 30 years, and currently operates with a turnover of over £20m. Involved in million pound contracts, they are one of the largest utilities contractors operating in NI, and specialise in power, telecoms, civil engineering and infrastructure. Due to consistently increasing workloads, they are now recruiting for an Estimator.
Your new role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid and should have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering and industry principles. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the preconstruction team, responsible for the valuation of international utilities projects worth up to £5m. You will be expected to manage projects efficiently and report price variations effectively. This is an office based role so you will not be required to travel to the UK.
What you need to succeed
You will be degree educated and will have at least 3 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying/Estimator role ideally with a utilities contractor. You will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering projects on time, and on budget. Experience of managing sub-contractors and a good standard of IT literacy will also be beneficial. As a person you will be an excellent communicator with strong negotiation skills. They are looking for someone who is dedicated, well-organised and has a hands on approach to projects.
