Permanent Job, Sustainability Manager, Ministry Of Defence contract - MOD base

Your new company:
A joint venture to deliver facilities management and maintenance for the defence industry. This role involves working for a specialist scientific division within the Ministry of defence and will be based on an operational Military base in the South of England.

Your new role:
Reporting to the National Head of Sustainability, this is an exciting opportunity for a confident, experienced, and ambitious leader with a proven ability to successfully deliver sustainable solutions and initiatives whilst ensuring business operations have minimal environmental impact.

This role involves ensuring that the operations comply with environmental regulations and procedures. The manager will lead sustainability efforts, oversee ISO 14001 compliance, identify energy-saving opportunities, manage environmental considerations, and promote waste reduction. Additionally, they’ll handle technical support, incident response, audits, and performance reporting. Overall, the Sustainability Manager aims to achieve positive outcomes while minimising the environmental impact.

What You Need to Do the Job:
  • Experience: Prior work experience in Sustainability or Environmental roles within the FM sector, including delivering sustainable solutions and managing energy data.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrable understanding of current Environmental legislation and Environmental Management Systems. Technical expertise in at least three areas: Sustainable construction, Energy management, Ecology and Conservation, Waste Management, Contaminated Land, and Sustainable Procurement.
  • Communication: Excellent client-facing communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Presentation Skills: Proficiency in delivering effective presentations.
  • Qualifications: Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline. Membership in the Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA) and Environmental Auditor certification are essential.
This role will involve security vetting, and you must have been resident and working in the UK for the past 5 years as a minimum.
