Energy Operations Manager | London | £65k - £75k DoE

Your new company

The client is seeking an Energy Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for enabling client energy reduction programs through monitoring, targeting, and interventions on building services. They will also be proficient in building control systems to make recommendations and help minimise energy consumption. Additionally, the Energy Manager will support the Engineering Maintenance functions to ensure that their client assets entrusted to us as custodians are maintained and operated as effectively and efficiently as possible to achieve their sustainability goals. The Energy Manager will be responsible for analytics and interventions to translate sustainability goals into a clear set of actions.


Your new role


  • Monitor and analyse information from data systems to evaluate an asset's performance and provide recommendations to enhance maintenance procedures and energy efficiency (new technologies, upgrades etc.).
  • Perform data analysis and performance assessments to assist the department in quantifying efficiency opportunities on our portfolio.
  • Monitoring optimisation results on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage continuous implementation of energy efficiency measures throughout the portfolio.
  • Report on energy consumption analysis, optimisations outcomes, and maintenance planning ensuring liaison with Operational Maintenance team and Professional Services teams to support our portfolio.
  • Support the deployment of data-led & analytics solutions across our portfolio.
  • Support the implementation of client energy/carbon efficiency recommendations.
  • Support energy compliance and Net Zero strategy activities.
  • Support the development of data-led solutions by identifying improvements based on technical knowledge and market changes.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop strong & sustainable client relationships and provide effective communications.
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance for the development of more junior members of the team.
  • Manage energy related queries and investigate on site, including BMS interventions, in conjunction with the operational team.
  • Undertake energy audit/survey across our portfolio to initiate the deployment of data-led & analytics solutions.
  • Troubleshoot problems and advise operational and client stakeholder teams on advisory courses of action.
  • Technical and operational support to utility metering and monitoring system strategy.
  • Devise and secure procedures for data capture and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Suitably qualified and an experienced energy manager, preferably a degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (i.e., Energy/Environmental Management, Building Services Engineering) and/or equivalent qualifications by experience, for example engineering (e.g., building services, mechanical engineering, energy engineering).
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in energy efficiency.
  • Experience of project management and facilities management awareness would be advantageous.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (such as EMA, CIBSE, the Energy Institute, IMechE) or working towards it would be suitable but not essential.
  • Deep understanding of the main UK/EU decarbonisation policies, trends and the state of the art of key decarbonisation technologies.
  • Experienced with Building Management Systems (Trend, Tridium, Siemens, etc.).
  • Experienced with industrial energy usage and building services, including; boilers, steam, heat networks, hot water systems, refrigeration, HVAC, Scada / BMS, CHP, heat pumps, and other renewable energy technology.
  • Experienced with Controls, VSDs and Metering Systems.
  • Experienced with energy management systems (ISO50001), Electrical infrastructure & systems, Process Optimisation, Efficiency technology design & implementation.
  • Understanding of BREEAM, EPC, NABERS, TM44, LEED or WELL and preferable accreditation in at least one of these.
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills, engineering control expertise, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions in the field of energy and sustainability.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word etc.)
  • Good planning and organisational skills - ability to manage own workload within tight deadlines and to a high standard.
  • Good team interaction skills to be able to actively work with site teams at all levels.
  • UK Driving Licence – occasional UK travel will be required.
