Secondary School - Food Technology Teacher - ASAP

Hays Education are looking for a Secondary School - Food-Tech Teacher to start in September.

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Food Tech teacher to work in an amazing secondary school just over 20 minutes from Bristol City Centre.

Food Technology Teacher

You must have relevant experience working with 11 – 16-year-olds within the last 2 years, and we must be able to obtain relevant references for this time. You should have a professional manner and a flexible attitude to working and timetable changes. Most importantly, you should be enthusiastic, engaging, and passionate about working with young people. Strong behaviour management and the ability to implement schools’ behaviour polices is also essential.

Job Description:

  • Delivering engaging and creative Food Tech lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Supporting, advising, guiding, and supervising students throughout the school day.
  • Supporting these classes in the absence of the timetabled staff/teacher.
  • Delivering the cover work established in the absence of the teacher.
  • Passion for inspiring students and promoting healthy eating habits.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. ECT's welcome to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology.
  • Recent experience teaching Food Technology at secondary school level.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Strong behaviour/classroom management.
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff members.

This is an opportunity to work in a secondary school with over 750 pupils in the Bristol area. The role is being advertised on a temporary basis but with the potential for this to be a long-term placement for the right candidate. You will have your own timetable and deliver improvements and results for your own classes.

You will be paid a competitive daily wage, based on your experience and the responsibilities of this assignment, plus you will accrue holiday pay with the option to take it at any point of the year.
