Your new company

This is a leading international manufacturing business with operations across a number of jurisdictions in the EU and overseas, who, due to growth, are looking for an experienced VAT and Indirect Tax Manager / Assistant Manager to join their highly regarded indirect tax team. The business offers an excellent range of benefits, working culture, and career progression for the right individual. This role is based in Ellesmere Port and offers hybrid working and flexible hours.

Your new role

This role will see you work as an influential part of the indirect tax and VAT team, specialising in the review and submission of VAT returns across the EMEA business, whilst having some management responsibilities for direct reports within the team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for review, approval and accurate submission of VAT returns, EC sales lists, and Intrastat returns across the EMEA region.
  • Responsibility for the accurate and regular submissions of reporting obligations, mainly across the EU but with growing responsibilities for other regions.
  • Management and oversight of Customs tax and approvals.
  • Driving and implementing positive process changes in the Indirect Tax Team, wider tax team, and other parts of the business where there is an impact on VAT compliance.
  • Reviewing and updating all process documentation, including risk management documentation and other important business documents.
  • Answering front line queries from the business as they arise and being a good point of contact for internal stakeholders on VAT related issues.
  • Implementing changes in VAT legislation across our active registrations, including supervising changes required in the business.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be considered for this role, you will have gained strong experience within VAT, ideally from either a reputable practice, or an industry tax team. You do not have to be a qualified accountant, but having a good understanding of VAT knowledge across the UK, EU and MEA region is essential. You will also be confident with utilising different computer systems and software, including excel and ERP systems.

What you'll get in return

  • Salary between £45,000 and £55,000, negotiable depending on your previous experience and academic record.
  • Hybrid working (2 days at home per week), along with flexible start/finish times around core hours.
  • Annual bonus, between 4% and 30% based on company and individual performance and targets.
  • 25 days holiday (rising to 28 with service), plus bank holidays.
  • 10% company pension scheme, which can be increased over time.
  • Annual salary reviews
  • Excellent career progression opportunities within an international business.
