Exciting new role with national regulator

About Us
More than half the UK working population rely on The Pensions Regulator (TPR) to regulate their retirement savings, we protect more than £2trn of savings for in excess of 30 million people.

This is an exciting time for TPR. The pensions sector is at a pivotal moment - whilst most pensions assets are still in defined benefit schemes, after the success of automatic enrolment, most pension savers are now within defined contribution schemes. This constitutes a major shift in focus across TPR and across this landscape our key priorities are to:

  • protect savers money by making schemes and employers comply with their duties
  • enhance the system through effective market oversight, influencing better practices
  • supporting innovation in savers interests so that new products and services deliver good outcomes

We have a proven track record of successfully implementing, anticipating, and adapting to changes in the complex pensions landscape here at TPR. The challenge now is to move forward and ensure that DB pension savers continue to get their promised benefits, and DC savers get value for money for their pension savings pot, whilst supporting innovation in the interests of all pensions savers. The evolution of TPR means we will see a move to being a more proactive and influential regulator, with effective market oversight and a greater focus on innovation underpinned by strong data and digital capability, and making our focus on regulatory compliance ever more effective and efficient.

By joining TPR at this exciting time you’ll be a key part of an organisation that will impact millions of lives for decades to come.

About the role
The Executive Director of Regulatory Compliance role will play a lead role in protecting pension savers' interests through the effective and efficient delivery of regulatory compliance services.
This senior leadership position is responsible for ensuring compliance by employers and pensions schemes, in areas such as auto-enrolment and trustee duties as well as leading our enforcement and investigations teams.
These regulatory actions will be delivered through excellent customer and front-line services, auto-enrolment processes, intelligence and investigation activities, and clear external engagement.
The position will also underpin our operational process improvement to ensure robust regulatory compliance and enforcement best practices within TPR including processes, data, people and systems.
The role sits on both the corporate Board and Executive Committee, reporting directly into the CEO.

About you
Outcome-orientated and possessing a keen operational grip, you will have extensive experience in running high-quality front-line services and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments - making sound decisions aligned with our objectives. We are looking for someone with a background in operations or regulatory compliance, with the capability to contribute to industry fora, conferences and policy discussions and form effective relationships with external stakeholders.

If you want to make a difference to the livelihood of tens of millions of people, we would love to hear from you.
