Financial Controller - Carlisle - Salary up to £70.000 per annum

Our client is a local Manufacturing Group business with a strong presence throughout the UK and Europe. We are exclusively recruiting a talented Financial Controller to join their Head Office team based in the Carlisle area. Reporting to and working closely with the ambitious Directors, the Financial Controller will lead a small team taking responsibility for Finance and HR functions. As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for periodic and robust financial reporting activities ensuring strong processes are in place to effectively report the business financial position.

Typical duties include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for presentation to the board of Directors
  • Cashflow and ‘flash figures’ forecasting on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for the annual audit
  • Submission of the company VAT return
  • Preparation of the annual budget in conjunction with other members of the management team
  • Company secretarial duties
  • Monitor and challenge ongoing overhead costs
  • HR duties will include management of employee records, assisting in annual appraisals etc liaison with external HR consultant as required
  • Take ownership of leading and managing the Accounts department and the team’s responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the company’s banks and effectively manage all business bank accounts, ensuring that cash flow is carefully monitored

The skills and experience required for this job include: -

The successful candidate will be a Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)

Experience in the manufacturing sector would be an advantage. You will be an excellent communicator with strong commercial acumen and the ability to liaise at all levels internally and externally. You will be an experienced people manager able to motivate, empower and drive performance and enjoy working in a growth environment. The successful appointee will be ambitious for themselves, the team and the business.

What you'll get in return :

Competitive salary in the region of £60,000-£70,000 dependent on experience

24 days annual leave including bank holidays incremental with each 5 years’ service

Hours, full time 39 hours per week, early finish on Fridays, fully office based
