Fund Manager Research

Our client, a London-based investment management firm, seeks an experienced Equity Manager Research Analyst with a strong background in the equity fund universe. This role will join their dedicated Manager Research team supporting the Front Office. This position is purely focused on manager research, providing the opportunity to conduct high-quality analysis and due diligence across various geographic regions. If you are a passionate research analyst with experience in fund manager research and have extensive knowledge of the fund universe, particularly in equity, this is an excellent opportunity. You will join a newly created team, working closely with the newly appointed Head of Fund Manager Research. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of equity funds and strategies across different product structures. Passion for researching, analysing, and effectively communicating about funds to external fund managers and sub-advisors is essential.

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar research role, demonstrating expertise in the fund’s universe and investment structures.
  • Primary focus on equity investments: Successful candidates should have a solid understanding of equity funds and strategies.
  • Sustainable and ESG research proficiency: An understanding of environmental, social, and governance factors is essential.
  • Familiarity with fund analysis systems and data: Knowledge of tools such as Morningstar (and preferably FactSet) is crucial for this role.
  • Professional qualifications: IMC (Investment Management Certificate) is required, and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) qualification is highly desirable. Candidates willing to work toward these qualifications are also encouraged to apply.

This role will join a multi-asset Manager Research team focused on external fund managers & sub-advisors, requiring a genuine interest in investments and strong expertise in evaluating environmental, social, and governance factors to enhance our client’s investment strategies.

To be considered, candidates will ideally have proficiency in tools like Style Analytics, Morningstar, or FactSet and will ideally be IMC and CFA qualified; however, those willing to study IMC & CFA are also encouraged to apply. As mentioned, this position is not suitable for individuals seeking a transition to portfolio management and will appeal to dedicated research professionals who are passionate about enhancing our clients’ investment strategies.
