I am recruiting for Media and Communications Assistant on a temporary basis for 3–6 months to work for a central government department. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile programme in a fast-paced, friendly and supportive team.
The expectation would be for you to work 4 days on-site in Central London and 1 day from home.

The purpose of the role will be to support the communications team to ensure the public, media and other stakeholders see and understand the department's work on a high-profile story – one which regularly leads to news bulletins.
Key responsibilities:
- Regular media, social media, and parliamentary monitoring
- Assisting with media logistics at public hearings/events - compiling registration lists for media attendees, escorting media in the venue.
- Covering a media enquiries' desk at public hearings
- Preparing briefing and logistical materials for the media
- Managing the news desk inbox and dealing with enquiries from the media
- Publishing content on the Inquiry’s website; ensuring the website is well maintained and up to date
- Drafting and posting content on the Inquiry’s social media channels
- Regularly liaising with legal and engagement teams to respond to media enquiries and/or around proactive communications activity
- Providing administrative support to the comms team and other teams as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A keen interest in news and communications and an appetite to learn and develop new skills.
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Prior experience in a media or communications team.
