A prestigious Higher Education organisation are on the lookout for their next Income and Payments Manager – could it be you?

Managing a team between 5 and 10, this Income and Payments Manager position is an extremely exciting opportunity for someone who has experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable, who is personable, approachable, and who has experience within change management.

If you are someone who has worked on/used multiple financial systems/software, maybe going as far as calling yourself an “IT wizz”, then this role could be for you as part of this role will see you assist with/implement system improvements alongside your managerial responsibilities.

Your New Role:

As Income and Payments Manager, you will be tasked with focusing on the diverse needs of this organisation’s customers and supporting the overall organisation objectives. Seeking someone with strong experience using different systems/who is IT competent, has a proactive mindset and who adheres to high levels of accuracy, you will multitask within a busy service environment and will step in to lead the department when the Head of Income/Payments is absent/during workload peaks. This role will also see you focus on the following:

  • Your duties and responsibilities will largely see you focusing in multiple areas, two of which include team management and system improvements:
  • Manage and directly oversee the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, directly overseeing the team leaders of both sub-teams.
  • Regular reviewal of the accounts receivable team to ensure improvements and enhancements are identified and implemented, building relationships and working collaboratively.
  • Deputise for the Head of the department when required.
  • Ensure service standards are continuously at their highest levels.
  • Lead on system improvements, resolving any inefficiencies within current systems.
  • Development of policies and procedures to enhance work of the department.
  • Be a key decision maker when faced with escalations.
  • Navigate the various payment systems used by the accounts receivable team, ensuring daily updates to the databases are implemented.
  • Outstanding debt analysis, ensuring that debtor procedure timelines are met.
  • Project management: support projects that both improve and enhance the AR and AP function; these include upgrades and adjustments to large corporate systems.

What You Will Need

To succeed in your application and within this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A finance related degree/equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent IT Competency, with experience on multiple finance systems.
  • Experience of managing small to large teams.
  • Excellent change management skills.
  • Experience delivering/implementing system changes and improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical skills.
  • Excellent knowledge/understanding of financial regulations, procedures and processes.
  • Excellent communication and internal/external stakeholder relationship building skills.
  • Ability to upskill team members.
