This statistical software development position sits in our Quantitative Solutions (QS) team, within Statistical Innovation group, part of the Respiratory Biometrics Department.
QS is a centre of excellence for building high quality software tools to provide novel statistical analyses, advanced analytics and business solutions.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Product Owner for statistical software you will be the project lead for statistical software development projects, providing high quality software solutions in support of the drug development portfolio.

The Role will include:

  • Being the project lead for the development team, ensuring the tool functionality is representative of the needs of stakeholders.
  • Providing statistical input for translating the needs of stakeholders & users to the development team
  • Defining the scope and expected deliveries & timelines for projects
  • Planning the workload and delivery of development sprints, using Jira efficiently
  • Taking accountability for Jira board maintenance, project documentation, and ensuring that risks, issues and tool scope are actively and effectively managed
  • Defining and ensuring delivery of appropriate rollout, training and advertising for the statistical software projects
  • Presenting to teams, capturing feedback on tool usage and value, monitoring further development needs / opportunities.

Working alongside others, you will contribute statistical expertise and assist in R and/or python programming for the agile development of new software tools. You will be responsible for improving the productivity, scalability and ease of use of existing tools and solutions, whilst ensuring that our statistical software tools are developed and validated to AstraZeneca and regulatory standards.
Requirements

Essential

  • BSc or above in statistics, mathematics, data science or related subject
  • Experience of providing programming for package development, testing and validation of R packages for either statistical analysis, modelling & simulation, or business applications
  • Broad understanding of clinical drug development & the pharmaceutical environment

Desirable

  • Experience, or understanding, of end-to-end agile software tool development and lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. R-Shiny, Java, Python, Spotfire, C/C++, VBA/VBS) would be advantageous
