Role: Software Developer
Location: Hybrid / Cardiff
Hours 37 hours per week, flexitime policy operates - Part Time Option available
Annual Leave: 28 days annual leave plus public holiday
Purpose of the role:
To improve and control the development of current Direct Payments Software in line with strategic and business sales needs.
Lead any large IT projects, including design and deployment of any new IT systems and services including a potential new Direct Payments system.
To work resolve queries made by the Direct Payment team and Clients.
To carry out customer training and respond to queries.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT.
Develop test strategies for new hardware and software.
Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, to make recommendations for improving the IT structure.
To be involved in the implementation of change within the organisation this will involve close liaison with senior Managers and Trustees
Line management of the System Support Officer.
This will be achieved by:
Having detailed knowledge of the Direct payments Software and its commercial application
Specifying, writing, testing and implementing new software applications, updates and modifications.
Maintaining and improving existing software applications
Testing software applications for quality assurance purposes
Working with Customers teams and managers on sales and support
Writing protocols and procedures for the use of software applications that have been developed
Liaison with Infrastructure Management Contractor
Developing and maintaining DP software using VB.NET / ASP.NET
Working with colleagues to resolve any payroll, HMRC queries/errors which have occurred because of errors made and are unable to be resolved by the Direct Payment team.
Full stack web development using the .NET Framework, working on bespoke software systems
Updating and improving all existing software
Software development training for the System Support and Software Developer
Working with colleagues and stakeholders to design and build new software systems and solutions
Providing technical support for existing software to users
Testing and debugging new and existing software
Producing documentation and/or providing training for end users.
Produce detailed software specifications
Write and commission programmes from specifications provided
Maintain IT software and systems once they are up and running
Present ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
Assisting with the preparation of bids for further Direct payments contracts and software Customers
