Social Media Lead Permanent: £35,326 to £40,927, flexi-time (around core hours) 30% pension contribution, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Hybrid working (2 days on campus, 3 from home)

Hays is supporting the University of Hull at an exciting time as they look to grow their Student Recruitment and Marketing team. Currently, their 12-person team is made up of video editors, web editors, content officers and designers. They have created a Social Media lead role to strategise and deliver their content across all social media platforms which is mainly organic.

You will be playing a key role in positioning the University at enhancing its reputation and making its voice heard, in order to:

  • Attract and retain students, building aspiration and fair access into higher education
  • Demonstrate their research impact and expertise and its impact on society
  • Attract and retain talent (staff) and investment
  • Evidence how the University is delivering on our vision of shaping a fairer, brighter and carbon neutral future.

The Social Media Lead will play a key role in the development and delivery of the university’s marketing strategy. Working closely with the Production and Campaign Manager and the Head of Brand and Digital, the Social Media Lead will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of creative and engaging social media strategies, focused on high quality and impactful content and campaigns which attract and engage key audiences to support student recruitment objectives.

Through leading colleagues and partners, the role holder will develop user focused, rich, relatable multi-media content for the University’s social media platforms. Specifically, the role holder will develop a distinct vibrant and authentic online presence by attracting high numbers of followers and engagement through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn. Fundamentally, the Social Media Lead will understand the absolute importance of social media content in supporting the University’s marketing strategy, particularly in building brand awareness and reputation to drive engagement and interest from our core market – prospective students. The successful individual must be a champion at user trends and look to create ever more innovative, exciting and relevant – youth focused – social media content that will be widely viewed and shared.
