Service Desk Support Engineer - 18 Month FTC - Remote - £33,000

Hays Technology are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Service Desk Support Engineer, for a national charity. This role is offered on an 18-month fixed term contract and offers remote working.

Your new role

As the Support Engineer, you will be working with the IT Service Desk Team Leader, technical teams, project managers and key business stakeholders to deliver technical projects and improvement plans. You will be proactively working on identifying problems, risk, issues and opportunities, whilst contributing to change management e.g. design, build and propose changes for peer technical review.

You will be complimenting Service Desk activities by making the desk more proactive and less reactive to demand. You will also be contributing to the development of the Service Desk knowledge base by creating and updating both technical and user articles and performing any other reasonable duties, as required by the Service Desk Team Leader or other senior IT colleagues.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience within an ITIL environment
  • Experience of running the technical elements of Service Desk projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to speak to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Technical support experience e.g. administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 services, configuring and administering a cloud-based MDM solution.
  • Understanding of technical inter-dependencies between endpoint devices and the underpinning infrastructure
  • Excellent configuration / troubleshooting, analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to prioritise effectively based on organisational impact and urgency
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, being able to operate at all levels and articulate messages to a variety of different audiences
