Learning Mentor for SEMH Setting - Secondary, Long-term

Your new company
Hays Education are supporting a local SEMH school in recruiting a versatile and inspiring Learning Mentor to work with their KS3 and KS4 pupils on a long-term basis. This role is to start in September 2022 and will continue an ongoing basis with the possibility for the right candidate to have permanent opportunities. It is a small school that has a team of resilient and had working staff who work collaboratively to create a strong family ethos within the school. Their aim is to find a positive and dedicated person to fit into their team who will work with them to create the best opportunities and outcomes for it's pupils.

Your new role
You will be working with groups of up to 12 pupils who face social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning in lessons, contributing to the behaviour management throughout the school, and aiding with assessment of development and progress. This role will require mentoring skills for both educational and emotional requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this SEMH Teaching Assistant role, you must have experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour. You must also have a passion for the raising of attainment and wellbeing for vulnerable young people.
