Job Overview/ Purpose: The Scrum Master Base Workplace & Applications facilitates, inspires, and guides squads in the Work & Health tribe to realise their goals. The Scrum Master is responsible to protect, together with the Product Owner, the Squads against unwanted interference from outside and ensure that the sprints are successfully completed. The role will report to the Senior IT Lead and will work very closely within the scrum teams. The role has no line management responsibility. The candidate must also be able to drive business analysis and architectural activities and be able to guide the scrum team. Context of Job: Tech4HR is a chapter within the CITO domain of the organisation. The chapter provides the specialisms required for multiple tribes to build and support workplace and HR products and services. Base Workplace and Applications is a department within the Tech4HR chapter that provides DevOps engineers with the following specialisms:
  • Dealing room: technologies and support.
  • Workplace foundation: application services, device management and security.
  • Devices: workplace device build, logistics and support.
  • Cloud PC: Virtual desktops and application hosting.
The department works primarily with the Work and Health tribe in CHRO. The purpose of the tribe is to provide employees with a great place to work, with products that are:
  • High quality: provide each employee with a best fitting work environment, both physical and virtual and wherever work takes them (office, home, somewhere else
  • Cost effective: ensure that every euro spent on the Workplace delivers a meaningful contribution to productivity, collaboration and employee wellbeing
  • Standardised: maximize the use of standard products whilst delivering an employee centric experience
  • Digital & Data-driven: enable the organization and every employee to take data driven decisions to optimize their effectiveness
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The Scrum Master Base Workplace & Applications has these key responsibilities:
  • Create and stimulate good open communication in the team and with stakeholders to eliminate bottlenecks or dependencies
  • Organize scrum meetings (including release and sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, demos and stand-ups)
  • SPOC for the team regarding all Agile questions
  • Facilitate appreciative inquiry method to feed GROW in sprints and make this part of the daily routine.
  • Ensure teams take ownership of both their delivery objectives as well as their Agile Journey, practices and mindset
  • Active member or scrum masters guild to share best practices across the tribe
  • Promote and implement Simplify@Scale way of working in the squads
  • Ensure the preconditions that a Squad can optimally perform
  • Maintain all scrum tools (roadmap, backlog, scrum board, progress charts, etc.)
  • Resolve roadblocks related to project planning and release management
  • Provide insights to improve team effectiveness, including progress charts
  • Responsible for the Agile rhythm of the Squad
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies on Squad level (e.g. Retro)
  • Support Product Owner in Squad backlog management

  • Transparent monitoring of progress and issues within the team
Business Knowledge/ Technical Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of Agile way of working.
  • Understanding of Workplace Services concepts
  • A good working understanding of Azure DevOps
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Conversant with Office and Visio
Leadership/ Management Skills:
  • The job holder will be required to lead scrums:
  • Ability to organise scrums ceremonies
  • To guide more junior colleagues
  • To understand and implement Agile ways of working
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to motivate and lead team members
Systems Knowledge/ Skills:
  • Knowledge of internal IT Systems. The Job holder will be required to learn new skills and new systems as required. The job holder should strive to build a working knowledge of the systems within the area and the wider Tribe landscape
