Join an exciting start up biotech producing innovative, synthetic biology driven platform for cell therapies. Our client applies CRIPSR technology to engineer stem cells which form the universal cell platform which they further functionalise into cell therapies.

Your new role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establishing an industry leading Cell Line Development capability for the production of engineered cell-based therapeutics (transfections, stable pool and monoclonal clone generation, production of pre-master cell stock banks, in-vitro cell aging stability studies, pre-MCB and tech transfer to CDMO for GMP MCB production, cell bank testing).
  • Ensuring the CLD platform is clinically relevant i.e., regulatory compliant. This will include establishing an internal segregated CLD facility, conversion of Research based protocols to fully documented ways of working, ensuring full traceability of all starting materials and product contact consumables, and establishing cell line history/viral risk assessment/bank testing reports.
  • Leading clinical cell line development campaigns from the bench.
  • Working with a third party CDMO to generate a host cell line GMP MCB stock with full documentation and subsequent GMP MCB of therapeutics cell lines.
  • Leading completion of relevant sections of regulatory filings.
  • Supporting iPSC expert within the team to:
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across the organisation to develop and establish new techniques and recommend alternative approaches and potential solutions to iPSC line issues and to improve the baseline cell process.
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe working environment, working to existing protocols and risk assessments, and contributing to the generation of new ones as appropriate, and compliance with GMO/ACDP requirements.
  • Timely, accurate recording and analysis of results and compliance with data integrity procedures.
  • Timely presentation of data to the department and wider company.


What you'll need to succeed
  • A relevant PhD with or BSc/MSc degree with significant relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in cell culture and cell line development within an industrial, regulatory compliant setting.
  • Experience in production of biologicals (e.g., biopharmaceuticals, cell therapies, vaccines).
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in some of the listed analytical methods: Flow cytometry, fluorescent/light microscopy, Western Blot, ELISA, qPCR, PCR, genomics.
  • Proven lab-based experience with project design, planning, execution and data recording, processing, interpretation and storage.
