Hays Social Care are working alongside a specialised service that help adults and children with autism. They provide young people with the opportunity to access education and engage with the wider community. They provide 24-hour residential care and support, as well as working with the young people’s families, social workers, and professionals.
Your new role
As a Support Worker you will adopt a therapeutic approach to work and help a small group of service users to develop independence. You will constantly work with challenging behaviour, so you must be resilient to react appropriately to this. Helping to identify triggers to challenging behaviour will be a key part of your role, as this will equip you to put a plan in place to overcome those triggers for that young person. You may also be expected to be involved with personal care.
What you'll need to succeed
Personal or work life experience of autism. The most important quality for this role is resilience; you must be resilient to be constantly overcoming challenging behaviour due to the fragile nature of some service users’ backgrounds. Drivers are preferred, but not essential as transport can be provided.
