The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity to join an established, expanding electro-optics specialist with a Global footprint as a Production Quality Engineer. Our client is a Leading Design & Manufacturing business, with several sites across the UK. Their product range delivers capability to the Naval, Land and Security sectors with cutting-edge technology and services, ensuring innovation is at the heart of everything they do.
Role Overview:
Identification of opportunities for improvement through root cause corrective actions to eliminate any repeat non-conformances and ensure products and services meet all requirements for performance and on-time delivery. To ensure that company production procedures are compliant with current legislation, customer, and business requirements, and that these processes are in operation, effective and continually improving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Checking and release of products prior to dispatch in accordance with their procedure
- Coordinating the company’s Non-conformance Reporting (NCR) system, ensuring containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner
- Driving the company’s 8D Problem Solving methodology and process by identifying root cause, correcting, and eliminating reoccurring problems
- Collating and reporting defect and other quality measures
- Thorough and timely response to customer Corrective Action Report requests
- Supporting the Internal Quality auditing system
- To support customer acceptance activities. Witness inspection
- Assisting in identification and mitigation of risks within the design, development, and production processes
Essential Skills:
- A HNC or equivalent in engineering related discipline is desirable
- Understanding of the integration of electronics and software into complex systems, including mechanical integration
- Previous experience in and a good understanding of fault-finding on electro-mechanical equipment based within a small batch engineered to order manufacturing process
- The ability to read and interrogate technical drawings and other technical standards (Def STAN, ISO)
- The competence to liaise with customers, suppliers, engineering and operations personnel
- You must have experience of 8D problem solving methodology and report writing for internal and external customers
- Experience in and understanding of QMS requirements of ISO 9001 or AS9100
- Competent in use of MS Office suit

Security Clearance Requirements:
Due to the nature of their business, all staff need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement. Therefore, if successful, you will need to provide proof of identity, employment history and right to work in the UK, along with proof of UK residency for at least five years.
