Your new role
As a classroom based teaching assistant, there are a variety of responsibilities; these include:
- Preparing the classroom before the start of class
- Monitoring and encourage engagement within the classroom
- Promotion of the school ethos
- Supporting the class teaching with behaviour management
- Monitoring progression across the class
- Supporting the full class and small groups during specified work
This is a full-time position, with support being needed within the classroom from 08:30 till end of school at 3:30; the post is currently funded through to the end of the academic year. The school have noted that for the right candidate, a permanent position may be available after a supply period.
The position starts: 4th January 2022
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role, there are several requirements.
It is essential that you have a minimum of 40 days experience working with children, within the last two years; this needs to be reference-able positions.
A level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification is needed, preferably with previous experience supporting SEN children.
Your mindset and attitude is essential for this role, role-modelling positive emotional regulation; the school have noted they are seeking the best fit for the class, over specific experience. The school are seeking a positive, nurturing, and engaging teaching assistant; who will reflect the school's approach to learning through play.
As discussed above, a secure and confident approach to behaviour management will be necessary for this role.
Applicants for this role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, a current DBS on the update service is preferable, if not the ability to pay for a new DBS is essential.
