This secondary school in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk is working in partnership with Hays Education in appointing a Teacher of Food Technology for September 2022. This is a well-established secondary school with 25-28 students per classroom. With a new Head recently put in place, the school is already seeing rapid improvements using strong behavioural management systems which has improved learning. The school has been described as a very calm environment with pupils showing an eagerness to learn. All staff receive excellent support to enable them to be better learning facilitators thereby improving the welfare and progress made by pupils. The school staff value the support provided by senior leaders to help them improve and staff morale is high.

Your role as the new Food Tech Teacher/ Teacher of Food Technology:

The main purpose of this Food Tech Teacher job is to deliver effective and high-quality learning to all students. Therefore, you will be required to:
  • Plan and prepare Food Technology lessons for pupils in either KS3 and/or KS4.
  • Be an inspirational Educator who is enthusiastic, influential, and committed to working in pursuit of success for the academy and its learners.
  • Set high expectations for all pupils, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximise their achievement.
  • Work alongside other team members and be involved in facility and department meetings.
  • Deliver Food Tech lessons in a creative manner which are pupil centred, ensuring all pupils are progressing consistently and achieving target grades.
  • Share in the school ethos of high expectations for student attainment and behaviour.

For this Food Tech Teacher/ Teacher of Food Technology role, the school with consider ECT (Early Careers Teachers) as well as experience subject teachers.
  • Have QTS with a relevant recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school environment.
  • Possess excellent classroom behaviour management skills to maintain standards in place.
  • Be keen to work as part of a team, share ideas and good practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of the KS3 & KS4 curriculum in Food Tech.
  • Be passionate about Food Technology.
  • Be creative in delivering lessons in Food Technology.
