15 month contract for a Finance Manager (Qualified Accountant) in Motherwell

Your new company

Our client a global construction business has a new job opportunity for a qualified accountant to fulfil a 15 month contract as Finance Manager to cover maternity leave.

Your new role

As Finance Manager you will provide the effective management of financial and compliance within the associated statutory requirements, by leading on the maintenance, development and delivery of financial controls, statements and processes.
You will lead the financial account team of 7 members in producing key monthly financial reporting and in managing and maintaining the nominal ledger. You will produce the key statutory returns (including VAT) and lead the year end and internal audits.

Other duties include;
  • Key involvement external annual audit
  • Support preparations of statutory accounts
  • Support corporation tax calculation process
  • Oversee month end financial reporting process to group
  • Support business forecast updates
  • Ensure ongoing internal controls compliance
  • Develop local finance team
  • Key involvement in update and roll out of group accounting systems and process updates
  • Work alongside extended management team and provide insight and technical support as required
  • Provide monthly updates on business performance
  • Work closely with all supply chain departments to ensure the companies most valuable assets are safe guarded and reported accurately
  • Challenge procedures within the departments and introduce new processes as required
  • Lead or be a key point of contact on projects required to ensure the continued improvement of or the introduction of new efficiencies required within both the Finance function and the business as a whole.
  • Provide support to the Head of Finance as and when required


What you'll need to succeed

You will be a qualified member of ACCA, CIMA, ACA or ICAS have experience in a similar high-volume services environment, ideally in manufacturing or construction. You will have experience of both management and financial accounts.

You will also have experience of managing and developing a team and of analysing and presenting financial information and processes to non-specialist colleagues. You will have considerable experience of preparing accounts in a large site operation, of operating an integrated accounts system, be customer focused with strong attention to detail.
