Energy/Sustainability Manager, NHS Foundation Trust, £31 per hour, 12-week post with potential extension

Your new role
The post holder will lead on Energy Management for the Trust and maintain the monitoring of energy consumption, utility bill verification and processing. They will be in charge of ensuring utilities contracts are in place and monitored for usage and appropriate terms as well as leading on energy and water management.

The rate is £31 per hour (Band 7), it's a fixed term of 12 weeks with review regarding potential extension. Full time office-based role with some travel involved.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directorate lead for sustainability, including responsibility for producing the Trust’s Sustainable Management Plan.
  • Lead and be responsible for an up-to-date energy and water policy including any associated SOP’s.
  • Lead on monitoring energy and water usage and reporting thereon.
  • Lead and be responsible for achieving energy and water reduction targets.
  • Champion energy and water initiatives for the directorate training (internal and partners), agenda briefings, presentations, internal media briefings, etc.
  • Ensure all sites (inc. out of area) have the best value for money utility/tariff contracts in place.
  • Manage energy efficiency schemes including writing business cases, specifications, tender preparation and assessment, project management, etc (e.g. lighting upgrades, insulation improvements, control upgrades, etc).
  • Provide energy and utility information as required for national and other reporting mechanisms e.g. ERIC, PAM, CQC, Finance, Service Line Reporting etc.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant specialist knowledge via a degree or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of specialist software and its use in analysis and reporting of utility usage & efficiency.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulations: Health & Safety legislation, energy and carbon control legislation.
  • Experience of energy management and energy conservation techniques.
  • Experience of liaising with utilities companies and external agencies.
  • Experience of the successful management of energy projects.
  • Experience of energy management and energy conservation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Financial Control systems standing financial instructions.
