Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking for 8 customer service advisors to join the Housing Repairs team within the council. Birmingham City Council is the largest leading local authority in the whole of Europe, they are renowned for their expertise in public services and endless opportunities. Birmingham City Council provides the city’s residents with a number services to ensure stability within citizens daily lives.

Your new role

In your new role as a Customer Service Advisor you have a responsibility to maintain their properties and report emergency or non-emergency repairs in line with the agreements between the council and contractors. Housing repairs also assist and provide information to the Rents department for tenants to keep up with their rental payments and other responsibilities such as council tax so that the council can support them. This role is a remote working position and you will be working shift patterns totalling 36.25 hours per week.

What you'll need to succeed

To be a successful candidate in this role you should have strong customer service skills and have confidence working on your own. Candidates from call centre / contact centre or telesales environment will benefit from the nature of this role as you will be familiar with working in a fast-paced environment. Staff will be required to cover the full contractual period with NO annual leave booked during training periods which could be up to 6 weeks.

If you are successful during your assignment this opportunity could become a permanent position working for the Council directly. Working hours are 36.25 hours per Monday to Friday with the contact centre being open from 8am – 8pm, with a 15 minute break and a 30 minute lunch break – both unpaid. This is a full-time position.
