Overview of the position:
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit an experienced Cleaner for Feltham Prison, Feltham.

This is an on-going Temporary Contract starting ASAP. You must be local to the area, drive or gave good links to public transport to get to the establishment. The rate varies between £10.14 - £11.04 depending on pay type. This is paid via your own Limited Company, an umbrella PAYE company or a direct PAYE option is available at the reduced hourly rate.

Purpose of the Maintenance role:
As part of the Works Department you will be responsible for the daily up keep of several areas of the prison. Currently the Prison has several days within the week for inmate visitation. As such the prison requires a cleaner who can complete general tasks such as sweeping, moping, vacuuming plus many more duties, ensuring the prison is kept in a hygienic state maintaining the reputation of the establishment.

London Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons, which serve all the courts in the South East. They pride themselves in engaging and involving employees working alongside them in the process of change. The Maintenance role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally. You must be local to the prison, have your own transport or have good connections to public transport.

Experience:
The prison is looking for an experienced Cleaner to join the works department, no qualifications are needed. Previous experience in a prison/ public sector is not required for this role. The nature of the role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks; you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/ department.

Security Clearance required:
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 3 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
