Prison Operational Support Grade Officer (OSG) required to work at HMP Send on shift rotation.
Your new role
HMP Send are looking to fill long-term temporary contract jobs for Shift OSGs. Working as part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment.
You may also be required to carry out duties similar to that of a Prison officer, including routine patrols of the site and wings, rub down searching of prisoners and searching buildings.

Routine administrative work
Escorting contractors & vehicles
Night patrol duties
Contractor Tool checks
Canteen and kit exchange duties
Searching prisoners property
Rub down searching of prisoners
Health & Safety Procedures
Supervising small selected prisoner work parties
Emergency Control Room (ECR) and Communications Room
Based on a Shift Pattern of 39 hours per week. Days, nights and weekend Shifts involved. £12.73 per hour inclusive of holiday (£11.12 per hour excluding the holiday pay). Additional overtime & night overtime rates apply for hours worked outside of shift pattern.
What you'll need to succeed
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role.
The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.
Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.

You must hold a Valid Passport or FULL Birth Certificate & Photo Driving License in your current address, as well as an additional proof of national insurance.
