Communities Support Worker

Closing date: 24th August
These positions are offered on a 2 year fixed term contract.

About the programme
Connected Communities helps residents to access the right help at the right time. The programme builds a wrapper of support around a family or individual to help residents live their version of ‘a good life.’

Following a successful pilot project, funding has been awarded for a further two years. We will work across the borough to improve access to council and community services and support.

Connected communities is not a standard team structure, we are an ecosystem. We ensure the voices of all; residents, workers and partners are heard and involved. We strive to improve not only the support we provide to residents but how this support is delivered.

What do we do?
  • We help residents to access the right help at the right time
  • We focus on what is strong not on what is wrong
  • We are constantly learning
  • We provide support locally to meet local need as part of Haringey’s ‘locality’ approach

A mix of general and specialist support such as:
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • English lessons (Adult learning)
  • Parenting and childcare
  • Getting involved in community activities and groups
  • Benefits and financial advice
  • Applying for the EU settlement Scheme

About the role
  • You will work flexibly from our Connected Communities hubs across the borough.
  • You will provide information, introductions, advice, guidance, and support to Haringey residents across a range of topics. This will draw on your own strengths and experiences; professional and life based as well as training and guidance from the Connected Communities programme.
  • You will support people, through conversations, to identify solutions to help them address their needs, make connections and meet their own outcomes.
  • You will work with a range of organisations, individuals and colleagues within the Council supporting the resident together.

About you
  • You recognise and embrace the strength of Haringey’s diversity. This is reflected in your work and commitment to participation.
  • You enjoy working with people and encouraging them to discover and use their strengths.
  • You enjoy problem solving and will bring creative ‘can do’ thinking to the role.
  • You may have experience working in front-line support and enjoy working to support the ‘whole’ person in their life.
  • You may not have worked delivering support but are passionate about helping and supporting people and are looking to develop your own skills and career.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure check with the DBS will be undertaken.

This post is available for flexible working arrangements including term-time only working.

We will be recruiting for a number of Connected Communities roles across the summer including frontline workers and frontline specialists.

If you are interested in this role kindly apply or send your CV through to me before the 24th of August.
